PACIFIC OVERTURES

Chromolume Theatre offers Stephen Sondheim aficionados the chance to catch the rarely performed Pacific Overtures, and though the musical itself will probably never rank high on my list of Sondheim favorites, its many fans will find much to admire in this full-length intimate staging.

THE HEART OF ROBIN HOOD

If you think (or hope) you’ve seen the last of Robin Hood, think again. The Heart Of Robin Hood has arrived at the Wallis, and any lover of theatrical magic and thrills who skips this Robin because they’ve already seen Errol or Kevin or Russell bring Mr. Hood to the silver screen should suffer one of evil Prince John’s unspeakable punishments, or at the very least a good tongue-lashing. THE TRAGEDY

Whether you find The Tragedy, D.G. Watson’s twisty-turny tale of three young Hollywood talent managers in search of the stroke of genius that will save their floundering business a piece of theatrical brilliance or a hallucinogenic hot mess may depend on how many shrooms you’ve consumed before lights-up. In either case, this often outrageously funny Ammunition Theatre Company World Premiere is like nothing else now playing on L.A. theater stages.
