It cost Warner Brothers a hundred million dollars to make Gravity. It’s probably cost Theatre Of NOTE one or two ten-thousandths of that to stage Entropy, and believe me, the latest from NOTE is a lot more fun than that Oscar-winning Alfonso Cuarón flick. A whole lot more fun.

EVITA

A Buenos Aires movie audience’s enjoyment of the latest 1952 film hit is interrupted by an announcement that Eva Perón, “the spiritual leader of the nation, has entered immortality.” There are screams and sobs, movie patrons grab each other for support.

Eva Peron may have just died … again, but her legend lives on as Candlelight Pavilion Dinner Theatre offers its audiences a solid revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s 1979 Broadway smash Evita.

AMERICAN IDIOT

glory|struck productions, who gave Los Angeles the Scenie-winning one-two punch of Spring Awakening In Concert and bare a rock musical, are back in town with what is likely to prove the musical theater event of the season, a head-bangingly thrilling Green Day’s American Idiot brought to surround-sound and surround-sight life in the Downtown L.A. THE ELLIOTS

RECOMMENDED

Readers have been rooting for Anne Elliot and Frederick Wentworth to rekindle their long-lost love since Jane Austen’s Persuasion first hit the book stalls back in 1817. L.A. theatergoers can now follow their example as South Pasadena’s Fremont Centre Theatre debuts A.J. Darby’s 2015 adaptation, retitled The Elliots. Yes, both Darby’s play and its World Premiere production could stand some tweaking, but Persuasion fans will find much to enjoy in two hours spent with Austen’s now iconic characters.
