I saw the same show, same cast, same director, same everything, in Laguna Beach last year, and loved it. What a joy to see it again, up close! Musical theater buffs will get most (though probably not every one) of the in jokes and references, but everyone will get a kick out of the songs which parody Rodgers and Hammerstein, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Andrew Lloyd Webber, and Kander &Ebb (with only Sir Andrew being the butt of some deliciously mean, though spot on) jokes. Composer/lyricist/writers Eric Rockwell and Joanne Bogart capture the styles of all of these greats, eliciting memories without ever actually copying melodies. Jeffrey Rockwell, Mary Gordon Murray, Brent Shindele, and Alli Mauzey show off their triple or quadruple threat talents in this perfect musical gem. NOVEMBER 2006, COLONY STUDIO THEATRE, BURBANK.
