In The End Of The Tour, we are in the hands of a playwright gifted in being able to see both the humor and the pathos of our dysfunctional lives. Joel Drake Johnson has created a sextet of beautifully conceived characters, people we recognize, people we may ourselves be. That he sees the humor in all of them keeps The End Of The Tour from ever becoming maudlin. Heather Dara Williams makes an auspicious directorial debut. Rhonda Aldrich creates a multilayered Jan. Gwen Van Dam is magnificent. Scot Burklin does exquisitely sensitive work and Albie Selznick is truly endearing. Michael Dempsey and Tom Knickerbocker provide comic relief. A silent Sylvia Little is unforgettable.
