“REFUGE FROM THE STORM” Begins July 5th, 2008
Secrets by the sea cliffs of Maine * LA Weekly: "Quite clever" Runs July 5th through August 10th, 2008
(Los Angeles, CA) (June, 2008)... REFUGE FROM THE STORM, a dark comedy by Bill Murphy, opens July 5th and running through August 10th at The Actors Group Theatre in North Hollywood. Set in an Irish tavern on the sea cliffs of Maine, the story revolves around the strangers who meet here seeking "refuge from the storm" that howls just outside the door.
About The Show
Tom and Doris Dexter are caught in a marriage in crisis. Both are guilty of infidelity, amongst other things, as they stare into their love's last chance. The storm has forced others into the space and they become players in the Dexters' drama. Tom and Doris Dexter bring out the ghosts to help save a marriage. They just don't know there are more than their own. REFUGE FROM THE STORM premiered almost seven years ago to the date and ran for just a month. LA Weekly said: "What seemed to be oddly irrelevant dramaturgy surfaces to become a quite clever if not wholly original, surprise ending." Jack Macha of the Gardena Valley News called it an "intriguing thriller by Murphy, who uses one of the most original ideas I have ever seen. That's all I will say, except that the suspense mounts steadily to a shattering end."
The seven years of revisions has made this new adaptation more taut and an even more entertaining show as a result. The Talent
