July 9 through August 13, 2008
(Los Angeles, CA) June, 2008... Producer P.F. Kozlowski and The Fake Gallery are pleased to present a Los Angeles Premiere of “HAPPY HOUR”, two half-hour, one-person shows. Part of the Theatre’s Persons of Interest series, set to open July 9th, 2008, at the Fake Gallery. About the Shows
“Happy Hour”, two half hour, one-person shows, “The Bar Guy” and “Just Add Waterman” featuring two unique perspectives on alcohol and substance use and abuse. Part of The Fake Gallery’s “Persons of Interest” series of one-person shows. “THE BAR GUY” written by and starring Jim DeCroteau. Directed by Suzy Nakamura (Curb Your Enthusiasm and Must Love Dogs). Jim DeCroteau brings his critically acclaimed one character play "The Bar Guy" to Los Angeles after a successful run in Boston. DeCroteau stars as Jeff Tabor, a barfly who frequents his neighborhood pub to dispense his thoughts and opinions to all who care to listen. …and to some who don't. Tabor sees himself as friend to all and a welcome member of his bar community. But, we soon discover that he is in a world of his own as he comes up with excuses as to why no one ever talks to him much less asks him to be in the football pool. Over the course of a year in the bar, and with some carefully placed flashbacks, we observe Tabor’s life fall apart as his delusions isolate him further and further from the reality of his insignificance and anonymity. A delirious assortment of dark humor everyone can relate to. DeCroteau brings incredible warmth and lovability to a character that lacks the self-awareness for self-pity. By the end of the performance, you feel more uplifted by his impenetrable optimism, than sorry for him. “The Bar Guy” has been performed in the Off Broadway Theater in Boston.
“JUST ADD WATERMAN” written by and starring David Earl Waterman. Directed by P.F. Kozlowski (Chris Rock, Comedy Central and The Ellen DeGeneres Show). Remember "The Drug Talk" you had with your parents before the prom, or when that cop showed up to your 5th grade class with a bag full of mock drugs and scary stories about drug dealers? For many of you, the information was sketchy or seemed a little over the top. Statistics suggest that the drug education you got had little or no effect on your decision to "experiment" with drugs. Actor & Counselor David Earl Waterman was one such youth who entered the drug scene at age 13 only to end up 20 years later wandering aimlessly along the 101 freeway seriously considering walking in front of a tractor trailer due to the effects of addiction. Waterman brings his expertise as a drug abuse prevention specialist along with his love for sketch comedy and theater to the Fake Gallery for a one-person show he calls "Just Add Waterman." You'll laugh and learn while he confronts all the demons he's been wrestling with since that first high! Today; clean and sober for 11 years, Waterman still dabbles in show biz, (The Sarah Silverman Program, Mind of Mencia, The Drew Carey Show) but finds his true calling is traveling around the world telling kids how f#*ked up he was before his recovery.
HAPPY HOUR opens July 9th, running through August 13th, 2008. The back-to-back performances are at The Fake Gallery located at 4319 Melrose Ave., Hollywood, CA. 90027, every Wednesday at 8:00 PM.
